About coaching

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) describes coaching as a partnership in a thought-provoking, creative process that helps people reach their personal and professional potential. You set the goals and the agenda. My role is to help you think clearly, see your situation from new angles and turn your ideas into action.

My focus is on three groups: lawyers, finance/risk/compliance professionals, and professionals considering a new path, such as consulting, starting their own firm, or moving to fractional or part-time work. I’ve also worked with professionals in other fields, including technology and sales and marketing, and I’m glad to talk with anyone who’s clarifying their next move, settling into a new role, or managing up and down while building trust. If you’re outside those three groups, please reach out. We can likely still work well together.

No. I work with people at every stage, from managers and early-career professionals to senior leaders and CEOs. What matters most is that you have something you want to work on and are ready to give it time and attention. My executive advisory service is the one exception: it is designed for leaders at the senior director level and above.

The issues that come up most often are:

  • Making a bigger impact in your current role, or shaping it around what you do best
  • Getting ready for the next level of leadership, or positioning yourself for a promotion
  • Building visibility and trust with senior leaders
  • Starting a new role, or leading a team you’ve inherited
  • Working through a difficult reporting relationship, and managing up and down
  • Deciding what comes next, such as moving in-house, starting your own practice or changing direction
  • Finding work that feels rewarding as well as successful on paper

Many clients want their current role to feel more rewarding, without necessarily leaving it.

For individuals, I offer one-on-one coaching, new role coaching, career crossroads coaching, 360 stakeholder feedback and executive advisory. For firms, teams and professional associations, I offer group coaching and speaking engagements. You’ll find details on my Services page.

Coaching looks forward. It focuses on your goals, the actions you choose to take and following through on them. Therapy focuses on healing and on difficulties rooted in the past, so if something would be better supported by a counsellor or therapist, I will say so. A mentor or consultant usually gives you their answer. In coaching, you develop your own, and when it’s helpful I may also share an observation from my own experience for you to consider. My executive advisory sessions offer a direct second opinion, but they are not legal advice.

Bring something real to work on, be honest even when it’s uncomfortable, and follow through on what you commit to between sessions. Coaching works in proportion to what you bring to it.

We set specific goals together in our first session and check progress against them as we go. Success means changes that you, and the people you work with, can actually see.

I’m a lawyer and a CPA (CA), and I spent more than 20 years building and leading compliance, risk, AML and privacy functions in Canadian financial services. I’m also a board member, an adjudicator for CPA Ontario, and I helped create and taught in a post-graduate program in regulatory compliance and risk at George Brown College. I hold an ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential, and since 2024 I’ve coached more than 50 professionals, from managers to CEOs.

How sessions work

Sessions are usually held virtually, on Zoom or Microsoft Teams, so you can join from wherever you are. In-person sessions are also available: I can come to your office, or you can meet me at my office in Burlington, Ontario. I normally travel within about two hours of Burlington, including the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, Kitchener and Cambridge. Other locations may be possible for an additional charge. Just let me know what works best for you when we book.

Yes. Most of my clients are in Canada, and I also work with clients in the US and other countries. Sessions are usually by video, so location isn’t a barrier.

We meet every other week over three to six months. Each session is about 50 minutes. If we’re in the middle of a good conversation, I won’t cut it short, and if you’ve covered what you need sooner, we can end early.

I offer sessions during the week, including some evenings, and on Saturdays, typically in the afternoon. Saturday mornings and other weekend times can also be arranged. Many clients prefer evenings or weekends, when they can think without email and calls coming in.

To book a free introductory call, visit my Calendly page. The times shown for introductory calls are limited; I have more availability for clients once we’re working together. If you have questions about timing, please email me.

Yes. I follow the confidentiality standards of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) Code of Ethics. There are a few limited exceptions, set out in our coaching agreement, such as when the law requires disclosure, when there is a risk of harm to you or others, or when illegal activity is involved. Coaching conversations are confidential, but they aren’t protected by legal privilege the way conversations with a lawyer are.

No. I never record or transcribe sessions. I may make brief notes during a session to stay focused, and I destroy them afterward. My client records hold administrative details only, such as appointments and invoices.

Fees, payment and cancellation

Fees depend on the type of engagement and on whether you or your organization is paying. I’ll walk you through the options on our free call. If you’re currently between roles, please ask about reduced rates.

Yes. Many organizations cover coaching as part of professional development. I’m happy to provide an invoice or any details your employer needs.

You can pay online by card through Stripe, or by e-transfer. Stripe handles your card details, and I never receive your full card number. Payment is made in advance, and two instalments can be arranged if needed.

Please email me at least 48 hours before your session and we’ll find a new time within your coaching period. Sessions cancelled with less notice, or missed, can’t be rescheduled and aren’t refunded. If you have an emergency or a significant personal event, let me know as soon as you can and I’ll consider waiving the fee.

Unless we’ve agreed otherwise, or coaching ends early (see below), unused sessions expire at the end of your coaching period and aren’t refundable.

Yes. Either of us can end coaching with at least two weeks’ written notice. If 52 Mondays ends coaching early, whoever paid for it will receive a full refund for any unused sessions. If you end coaching early, unused sessions will be refunded less an administration fee, as set out in the coaching agreement.

Getting started

It’s a free, 15-minute introductory call. You tell me a little about where you are, and we talk about whether working together makes sense. There’s no pressure and no obligation.

The free call is the best way to find out. Notice whether you feel heard, and whether I push your thinking a little rather than simply agreeing with you. If it’s a fit, you’ll usually know by the end of that call.

A brief, high-level reason for reaching out is all I need. Please don’t include medical information, confidential business information or other sensitive details at this stage.

I send you a coaching agreement to review and sign, along with some information about how coaching works, and I’ll ask for your contact details. Once the agreement is signed and payment is received, you’ll get a link to book your sessions.

Please use the booking link in your welcome email, or reach out to camille@52mondayscoaching.com.

I collect only what I need to respond to you, send what you sign up for and manage your coaching. You can read the details in my Privacy Policy.
